Music Theory
Music Theory is the method by which musicians understand the grammar of the music they play.
Although it is not absolutely necessary to learn music theory alongside the standard practical grades, it is certainly recommended to strengthen the link between reading the music and playing it.
If students wish to move onto the advanced practical grades (6-8) then Grade-5 music theory is a prerequisite. It is often quicker and easier to study for this level of theoretical knowledge if the lower grades have been taken at regular intervals before this requirement must be met.
Tom offers music theory both as face-to-face lessons and online on Zoom. He offers this as a 1-2-1 experience and for group sessions.
Rodgers Music follows the Associated Board Theory syllabus. Please do get in touch if you are interested in this tuition service.
